There is an important difference between silk, cotton or polyester satin. Cotton pillowcases are not smooth and give much more friction. This causes damage to your hair and delicate skin. Silkstudio Amsterdam pillowcases are soft and smooth and allow your skin to glide, while cotton could damage your delicate skin, resulting in dehydrated skin and sleep-creases.

Silkstudio Amsterdam pillowcases are 100% silk. Silk is a natural fabric containing a protein called Sericin, with anti-aging and moisturizing properties. But polyester satin is made from synthetic material, an unnatural petroleum based substitute for real silk. Always sleep on real silk. All our silk products are of the highest quality and are made of grade 6A and 22 momme 100% Mulberry silk. İt is woven in a smooth charmeuse weave to ensure as least friction as possible. Unlike some other brands, Silkstudio Amsterdam will never use silk which is not charmeuse woven (e.g. stonewashed or sand washed) to guarantee as least friction against the skin as possible.

Mulberry silk is the highest quality silk you can purchase in the world. Mulberry silk is made by the Mulberry silkworm, who only eats the leaves of the Mulberry tree. The Mulberry silkworm creates the Mulberry silk thread which is the strongest natural fiber in the world. That is why Mulberry silk is the most luxury and durable silk that nature can provide.

A momme measures silk density and weight. The greater the momme, the higher the quality of the silk and the longer it lasts. Most silk products on the market range between 16 and 19 momme, but all of our products are made from 22 momme silk, so that each piece is of the most superior quality and durability.

6a grade silk is the highest grade available and made from the longest silk fibres. This makes it very durable and more luxurious then lower grade silks. At Silkstudio Amsterdam we only use the highest grade silk, to give you the best quality products.

Charmeuse weave is a specific style where the silk threads are woven in a particular pattern that has a smooth, luxurious finish on one side and a more matte finish on the other side. This particular weaving pattern is known for its drape, its shine and therefore ideally for pillowcases.
